NPort S9650I Series - 8/16-port rugged device server with managed Ethernet switch

The NPort S9650I Series, which Moxa introduced earlier this year, is now available.

Moxa´s NPort S9650I Series are rackmount serial device servers, which support the IEC 61850 MMS (Manufacturing Message Specification) protocol and is compatible with IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards for power substation applications. With this new addition, Moxa introduced the industry’s first complete IEC 61850 MMS solution that combines serial device servers, Ethernet switches, and computers for Power SCADA supervision.

Unified Substation Communication

MMS is an international standard for real-time process data communication between network devices. The standard is becoming popular in power substations, where operators can monitor and manage field devices on Power SCADA via unified MMS protocol. Moxa as a leading provider of IEC 61850 substation communication and computing solutions now has expanded its MMS-support offerings from embedded computers and Ethernet switches to serial device servers, delivering the industry’s first fully integrated IEC 61850 MMS solution. For substation retrofits, MMS makes it easier to bring all legacy devices into a single system for easy maintenance.

Rugged Device Server for Extreme Reliability

Moxa’s NPort S9000 Series include the NPort S9450I 4-port DIN-rail device server and the NPort S9650I 8/16-port rackmount device server. The NPort S9000 Series is compliant with IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards, which make provision for strong EMI protection. Moreover, the NPort S9450I supports Class I Division 2 standards for oil and gas applications. Combined with a -40 to 85°C operating temperature range, dual power inputs, and galvanized steel housing, the NPort S9000 is suitable for a wide range of industrial environments.

Device-Level Security

To address rising security threats, NPort S9000 device servers are equipped with security features based on IEC 62443-4-2 standards defined for Industrial Automation and Control Systems. The device-level security is available with all serial and Ethernet connections to secure data and network traffic against security threats or operational errors.
